Booking and Cancellation Policy
At BondingwithK9s, we aim to provide a high-quality and professional dog training service tailored to the needs of both you and your dog. To ensure fairness and efficiency for all clients, the following booking and cancellation policies apply:
1. Booking Procedure
All training sessions must be booked in advance through our official booking system, by email, or phone.
Full payment is required at the time of booking to confirm your appointment, unless agreed otherwise in writing.
Booking is only secured once payment is received and confirmed by us via email or message.
Package sessions must be booked and used within the valid time frame outlined in the package terms.
It is your responsibility to ensure your contact details are accurate so you receive booking confirmations and reminders.
Bookings are non-transferable to another dog or owner without prior written consent.
2. Cancellation Policy
A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required for all cancellations to avoid being charged in full.
Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged at 100% of the session cost.
Repeated cancellations or no-shows may result in refusal of future bookings.
Package sessions missed or cancelled late are deducted from the package and cannot be rescheduled or refunded.
Cancellation requests must be sent via text or email and acknowledged by us to be valid.
We reserve the right to cancel services for clients who fail to follow cancellation policy procedures.
3. Rescheduling
Sessions may be rescheduled at no cost if more than 48 hours’ notice is given.
Rescheduling with less than 48 hours’ notice will be treated as a cancellation and charged accordingly.
You may only reschedule a session once; multiple changes may result in forfeiting the session.
Rescheduled sessions must take place within the same validity period of the original booking or package.
We cannot guarantee availability for short-notice reschedule requests.
Failure to attend a rescheduled session will be treated as a no-show.
4. Illness or Emergency
If your dog is unwell (vomiting, diarrhoea, coughing, injury), please notify us immediately and do not attend the session.
In genuine emergencies or illness, cancellation fees may be waived at our discretion if notice is provided promptly.
You must notify us as soon as possible in the event of illness or emergency; retrospective claims may not be accepted.
We may request evidence (e.g., vet note) to support waived cancellation fees for medical reasons.
Dogs must be free from contagious diseases and parasites before attending training.
Illness-related cancellations must be rescheduled within the original time frame of your package or booking period.
5. Trainer Cancellations
In the event that we must cancel a session (e.g. due to illness, emergencies, weather), we will notify you as soon as possible.
A full refund or reschedule will be offered for any session we cancel.
We reserve the right to cancel sessions for reasons including, but not limited to, unsafe training conditions or trainer illness.
We are not liable for any losses (e.g., travel costs) arising from a trainer-initiated cancellation.
In rare cases of extreme weather, outdoor sessions may be postponed for safety.
Should we need to take planned leave, sufficient notice and rescheduling opportunities will be provided.
6. Late Arrivals & No-Shows
Please arrive on time for all sessions. Training will begin promptly at the agreed time.
If you arrive late, your session will still end at the scheduled time to avoid impacting other clients.
Arrivals more than 15 minutes late may be considered a no-show and charged in full.
No-shows without notice will not be refunded or rescheduled.
Repeated late arrivals or missed sessions may result in removal from our client list.
It is your responsibility to plan your journey and allow for travel delays where possible.
7. Training Agreement & Expectations
All training is based on positive, force-free methods; harsh handling, shouting, or punishment will not be tolerated.
Owners are expected to practise exercises between sessions to ensure steady progress - consistency is key to success.
Results depend on regular reinforcement at home; no guarantees are offered without client participation and follow-through.
The owner is responsible for managing the dog’s environment and applying advice given during training outside of sessions.
All equipment used during training must be safe, humane, and approved by the trainer (e.g., no prong, choke, or e-collars).
We reserve the right to end a session early or terminate services entirely if the dog’s welfare, safety, or training ethics are compromised.
To ensure a smooth and productive experience for all clients and dogs, the following attendance and punctuality policy outlines our expectations regarding timekeeping, no-shows, and session structure. By booking a session, you agree to abide by the terms below.
1. Arrival & Start Time
Clients are expected to arrive on time and ready to begin at the agreed session time.
Please allow extra time for parking or settling your dog prior to the session.
Sessions will begin and end at the scheduled time, regardless of when the client arrives.
Late arrivals will not be given additional time at the end of the session.
Delays caused by the client may result in certain exercises being skipped to stay within time limits.
Consistently late arrivals may result in refusal of future bookings.
2. Late Arrivals
Arriving more than 15 minutes late without prior notice will be considered a no-show and charged in full.
If you're running late, please contact us as soon as possible—we may still be able to continue the session in a reduced format.
Repeated late arrivals may result in cancellation of future sessions without refund.
We are unable to overrun sessions due to lateness, out of respect for other clients’ bookings.
Missed time due to lateness cannot be refunded, rescheduled, or transferred.
If arriving late compromises safety (e.g., overlap with another reactive dog), the session may be terminated for the day.
3. No-Shows
Failing to attend a session without notice is classed as a no-show and is non-refundable and non-transferable.
No-shows count as a used session within any prepaid package or programme.
Repeated no-shows may result in refusal of future services.
We do not send reminders before each session—clients are responsible for keeping track of appointments.
No-shows place pressure on our schedule and prevent others from accessing training slots.
If you experience an emergency, please contact us as soon as possible so we can make reasonable allowances where appropriate.
4. Early Departures
If you choose to leave a session early, it will still be considered a full session and charged accordingly.
Early departures may result in incomplete exercises or missed advice, which can affect progress.
Feedback or written reports will not be adjusted to cover content missed due to early departure.
Refunds or make-up sessions will not be offered for voluntary early departure.
If a dog is unwell or distressed during the session, we may end it early at our discretion and reschedule if necessary.
Owners leaving without discussion may miss important safety or behavioural information provided at the end of the session.
5. Client Responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring your dog is leashed and under control at all times during arrival and departure.
Children attending must be supervised and not distract from the training session.
Bring necessary equipment (leads, treats, harness, toys) to each session as advised by your trainer.
Clients are expected to listen, participate, and apply the trainer’s guidance
Please avoid using mobile phones or other distractions during the session unless necessary.
We reserve the right to stop a session if the client refuses to follow safety instructions or behaves inappropriately.
6. Session Format & Structure
Each session is structured to include warm-up, training activities, troubleshooting, and feedback.
The trainer will adapt the content to suit your dog’s progress, needs, and learning style on the day.
Sessions may include work in different environments to support real-world results (e.g., garden, public spaces).
Breaks will be incorporated if your dog shows signs of fatigue, stress, or overstimulation.
You will receive verbal feedback during the session, and written notes if included in your package.
Please allow a few minutes at the end of the session for review and discussion before leaving.
Health and Vaccination Policy
At BondingwithK9s, the health and safety of all dogs, owners, and staff is our top priority. To maintain a safe environment for everyone, the following health and vaccination policies apply to all training sessions. By attending training, you agree to adhere to these terms.
1. Vaccination Requirements
All dogs attending training must be fully vaccinated according to their vet’s advice, or present valid titre test results showing immunity.
Puppies must have received their first vaccination and be cleared for public contact before attending sessions.
Core vaccines required typically include: Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, and Leptospirosis (consult your vet).
Vaccination records must be presented upon request and may be required at the time of booking.
Booster vaccinations must be kept up to date throughout any training programme or class.
We reserve the right to deny entry to any dog without proof of appropriate vaccinations or immunity.
2. Flea, Tick & Worming Treatments
Dogs must be on a regular flea, tick, and worming programme, as advised by your veterinarian.
If your dog is found to have fleas or ticks during a session, you may be asked to leave, and the session will not be refunded.
All indoor spaces are cleaned regularly, and infestation risk must be kept to a minimum.
If a dog is found to have passed worms during training, it will be required to stay home until treatment has been completed.
Clients must inform the trainer of any infestation prior to attendance.
Preventative treatments should be administered at least 24 hours before a training session to avoid skin irritation or adverse effects.
3. Illness & Injury
Dogs showing any signs of illness (e.g., vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, lethargy, limping) must not attend training.
If your dog becomes unwell during a session, the session may be ended early at the trainer’s discretion.
Dogs recovering from injury must have veterinary clearance before resuming training activities.
Sessions missed due to illness may be rescheduled at our discretion if sufficient notice is given.
Please monitor your dog’s health closely on the day of training and cancel promptly if any concerns arise.
Clients arriving with visibly unwell or injured dogs may be refused entry, and the session may be forfeited.
4. Contagious Conditions
Any dog diagnosed with a contagious illness (e.g., kennel cough, giardia, ringworm, conjunctivitis) must remain at home until fully recovered.
A minimum isolation period may be required depending on the condition and veterinary guidance.
If your dog contracts a contagious illness and has recently attended training, you must notify us immediately.
We reserve the right to cancel group sessions in the event of a suspected outbreak to protect others.
All dogs returning after illness must be symptom-free and possibly require a vet clearance before rejoining.
Failure to disclose a contagious condition may result in permanent removal from training services.
5. Injuries to Trainer or Others
Owners are responsible for any injury or damage caused by their dog to the trainer, other clients, or property.
Biting, severe reactivity, or other unsafe behaviours must be disclosed before training begins.
Dogs with a known bite history must wear a muzzle in appropriate circumstances and may require a behaviour plan before training can continue.
If your dog injures another dog or person, the session will be stopped immediately, and further participation may be reviewed.
Any incidents will be documented, and veterinary/medical treatment must be sought where required.
Insurance covering third-party liability is strongly recommended for all owners.
6. Client Responsibility
Owners must assess their dog’s health on the day of training and act in the dog’s best interest by cancelling if needed.
It is your responsibility to inform the trainer of any medical issues, allergies, sensitivities, or behavioral triggers.
Dogs should not be brought to training within 48 hours of any vet procedure requiring sedation or anaesthetic.
Dogs in heat may be refused entry to group sessions—please refer to the Bitches in Season Policy.
Ensure your dog is appropriately hydrated, exercised, and toileted before arrival.
Failure to follow health and safety guidance may result in removal from training programs.
7. Post-Surgery or Recovery Attendance
Dogs recovering from surgery (e.g., spay/neuter, injury repair, dental procedures) must have veterinary clearance before attending training.
A minimum 10–14 day rest period is usually required post-op, depending on the vet’s advice and type of surgery.
Stitches, wounds, or dressings must be fully healed or protected before training resumes.
Dogs recovering from illness or physical trauma may require a modified training plan or gentler activities.
Owners must disclose any post-surgical conditions so sessions can be adapted appropriately for safety.
Training may be paused or adjusted at the trainer’s discretion if a dog appears to be in discomfort or pain during the session.
8. Trainer’s Right to Refuse Service
We reserve the right to refuse service to any dog who appears ill, injured, or poses a health risk to others.
Aggressive, fearful, or dangerous behaviours that compromise safety may result in immediate termination of the session.
Any attempt to withhold medical or behavioural history will be treated as a breach of contract.
If a dog is brought to training in unsuitable condition (e.g., fleas, heat, illness), the session will be cancelled without refund.
The trainer’s decision to suspend or cancel participation is final and based on maintaining welfare and safety for all.
Reinstatement of training after refusal will only be considered with evidence of improvement and any necessary veterinary or behavioral assessments.
Behavior and Safety Policy
The safety of all dogs, clients, and staff is our highest priority. This Behaviour & Safety Policy outlines the standards expected during all training services. By enrolling in our training sessions, you agree to the following terms:
1. Behaviour Disclosure
Clients must fully disclose any history of aggression, fear, reactivity, resource guarding, or bite incidents prior to booking.
Failure to disclose behavioural issues may result in termination of services without refund.
Behavioural information helps us design a safe and effective training plan for your dog.
All behavioural concerns must be updated throughout the training programme if new issues arise.
If a dog’s behaviour poses a risk, a vet check and/or behaviourist referral may be required before continuing.
We reserve the right to request a full behavioural history or vet records for high-risk cases.
2. Aggression & Reactivity
Aggressive dogs must be assessed prior to attending group classes and may only be eligible for 1:1 behaviour sessions.
Muzzles or other safety equipment may be required at the trainer’s discretion for the safety of others.
Dogs with a bite history must not attend group sessions and will require a tailored training plan.
Reactivity towards people or dogs will be managed using desensitisation and counter-conditioning methods only.
Any incident involving biting or attempted biting will be documented and reviewed before future sessions are approved.
Clients must follow trainer guidance exactly during reactive dog training to avoid escalating behaviour.
3. Equipment & Handling
Only force-free, positive reinforcement methods are used. Aversive tools (e.g., prong collars, choke chains, e-collars) are not permitted.
All dogs must arrive with a secure lead and properly fitted collar or harness.
Extendable (flexi) leads are not allowed during training unless otherwise instructed.
The trainer may handle your dog with consent during training, but you remain legally responsible for the dog’s actions.
Owners must never use physical punishment, shouting, or intimidation during sessions.
Unsafe handling practices may result in immediate session termination and possible removal from the programme.
4. Safety During Sessions
Dogs must remain under control at all times—on lead unless directed otherwise by the trainer.
Please maintain space between your dog and others unless part of a structured exercise.
Off-lead work will only take place in secure environments and with trainer permission.
Owners must supervise their dog and follow all safety instructions to reduce risk to others.
We may adapt or pause the session if your dog shows signs of distress, illness, or over-arousal.
Clients are responsible for all damage or injury caused by their dog to other people, dogs, or property.
5. Environment & Training Areas
Outdoor sessions may take place in public areas; clients must keep dogs on lead unless otherwise directed.
You must pick up after your dog immediately and dispose of waste appropriately.
Disruptive or unsafe behaviour (e.g., excessive barking, lunging, marking) may result in relocation or rescheduling.
Children or spectators must remain at a safe distance and follow any instructions given by the trainer.
Training venues may vary; please ensure your dog is comfortable in new environments.
Any hazards or concerns noticed by the client must be reported to the trainer immediately.
6. Client Conduct
Clients are expected to be calm, respectful, and cooperative throughout the session.
Abusive, aggressive, or inappropriate behaviour towards the trainer, staff, or other clients will not be tolerated.
You must be present, engaged, and follow guidance to ensure the success of your dog’s training.
Trainers have the right to end a session early without refund if client behaviour puts safety at risk.
Harassment or disrespectful conduct will result in permanent refusal of future service.
Mutual respect and communication are vital to building a successful trainer-client relationship.
7. Multi-Dog & Household Management
If training multiple dogs from the same household, each dog’s behaviour must be disclosed separately.
Dogs will be worked with individually where necessary to ensure focus and safety.
Group dynamics may be assessed and managed to avoid conflict or competition.
Separate handlers may be required if two reactive or excitable dogs are present.
Clients must ensure their environment is suitable for multiple dogs being trained at once (e.g., separate areas).
Inter-dog aggression must be managed before combined sessions can take place.
8. Trainer’s Right to Refuse or Terminate Service
The trainer reserves the right to end a session or training programme if a dog poses a danger or if client conduct breaches this policy.
We may refuse service if a dog is unsuitable for our training style or group environment.
Services may be paused or suspended until safety measures (e.g., muzzles, vet assessments) are in place.
A referral to a clinical behaviourist may be recommended for complex or high-risk behaviour.
Decisions made in the interest of safety are final and non-negotiable.
Reinstatement after refusal is considered on a case-by-case basis, with documented progress and professional reports required.
9. Children, Visitors & Family Members
Children are welcome to attend training sessions if supervised, but they must remain calm and follow trainer instructions at all times.
Young children must be accompanied by an additional adult if the primary handler is engaged with the dog.
Visitors and spectators are permitted only with prior agreement and must not interfere with the session.
All household members involved in the dog’s care are encouraged to participate for training consistency.
Disruptive behaviour by children or family members may result in the session being paused or rescheduled.
The trainer reserves the right to ask any person to leave the training area if their presence compromises safety or focus.
Any legal disputes arising from services provided will be subject to the jurisdiction of [Your Location / Governing Body].
This policy may be updated without prior notice—clients will be notified of major changes where appropriate.
Signing up for services implies agreement with all terms outlined in our liability and insurance policy.
Clients may request a copy of our insurance certificate at any time.
You are encouraged to ask questions before sessions begin to ensure full understanding of your rights and responsibilities.
7. Emergency Procedures
In the event of an emergency (dog fight, injury, health crisis), the trainer will act swiftly to prioritise safety and wellbeing.
You must follow all trainer instructions immediately during emergencies, including removing your dog from the situation if asked.
A basic canine first aid kit will be available at all in-person sessions.
If veterinary care is required during a session, the owner is responsible for transporting and paying for all related costs.
If the trainer is injured during a session, it may be paused or terminated for safety and proper care.
Emergency contact details must be provided for all clients at the time of registration.
8. Working with Reactive or Aggressive Dogs
Dogs with a known history of aggression, lunging, or reactivity must be booked into 1:1 sessions only, not group classes.
Muzzles may be required and must be properly fitted and introduced using positive reinforcement prior to training.
The trainer reserves the right to refuse training if the dog presents an immediate safety risk to others or themselves.
Owners must have full physical control over their dog at all times; failure to do so will result in session cancellation.
Progress with behavior modification is typically slow and requires consistent work outside sessions—this is not a quick-fix service.
In complex cases, the trainer may refer the client to a Clinical Animal Behaviorist for additional support.
Training Tools and Methods
At BondingwithK9s, we are committed to using kind, ethical, and science-backed training methods that prioritize the physical and emotional wellbeing of every dog. This policy outlines the tools and techniques we use—and those we prohibit—to ensure a safe and effective learning environment for all.
1. Training Philosophy
We use positive reinforcement methods that focus on rewarding desired behaviors rather than punishing unwanted ones.
Our approach is force-free, fear-free, and pain-free, based on current behavioural science and welfare standards.
We prioritise building a strong, trusting relationship between dog and owner through communication and consistency.
Dogs are taught new behaviours through repetition, reward, and clear communication - not intimidation or dominance.
Training plans are tailored to each dog’s learning style, age, breed, temperament, and past experiences.
We actively support ethical training standards promoted by organisations such as the APDT, IMDT, and PPG.
2. Approved Tools & Equipment
The following tools are permitted and may be recommended during training:
Flat collars
Front-clip or back-clip harnesses
Double-ended leads
Long lines
Clickers
Treat pouches
We may suggest equipment based on your dog's individual training goals and needs, ensuring it's used correctly and safely.
All tools must fit properly and be in good condition for the safety of the dog.
We will provide guidance on how to introduce and use tools to build positive associations.
Harnesses that allow freedom of movement and reduce pulling are preferred for loose-lead work.
Long lines are used only in safe, open environments and under trainer supervision.
3. Prohibited Tools & Methods
The following are strictly banned from all training sessions and may result in termination of service if used:
Prong collars
Choke chains
Electric/shock collars (e-collars)
Spray collars (citronella, air)
Alpha rolls, scruffing, or physical correction
Any client using these tools will be asked to remove them immediately and offered a humane alternative.
We do not support outdated or aversive methods such as dominance theory, leash pops, or intimidation tactics.
Use of banned tools during or between sessions may breach your training agreement.
We reserve the right to terminate training if welfare-compromising tools are used against advice.
Educating clients on kind alternatives is a key part of our mission.
4. Reward-Based Techniques
Food rewards, toys, praise, and play are commonly used to reinforce desired behaviours.
We encourage the use of high-value treats during training, especially in distracting environments.
Timing and consistency of rewards are key to effective learning—this will be taught during sessions.
Rewards are gradually faded as behaviours become reliable, moving toward real-life reinforcement.
Play-based training can be incorporated for dogs that are toy- or praise-motivated.
All rewards used must be safe, appropriate for the dog’s size and dietary needs, and used under supervision.
5. Client Participation & Responsibility
Owners must commit to using only approved tools and techniques between sessions to maintain consistency and avoid confusion.
Any concerns about a recommended tool or method should be discussed openly with the trainer.
You agree not to use or introduce banned tools while enrolled in training, even outside of sessions.
Training is most effective when clients are engaged, consistent, and reinforce behaviors daily.
If the trainer provides equipment on loan, you are responsible for its safe return or replacement if lost or damaged.
If another person (partner, dog walker, family member) handles the dog, they must follow the same training guidelines.
6. Behavioural Adjustment Tools
In cases of fear, aggression, or reactivity, we may use tools such as muzzles, long lines, or barriers to create safe training setups.
Muzzles (if required) will be introduced using positive association methods and must never be used as punishment.
Barriers (e.g., pens, gates) may be recommended to manage the dog’s environment between sessions.
A calming aid (e.g., LickiMat, snuffle mat, puzzle toy) may be introduced to support emotional regulation.
In some cases, referral to a Clinical Animal Behaviourist or veterinary behaviourist may be recommended alongside our work.
These tools are part of a wider behaviour plan—not a solution in themselves—and should be used with trainer guidance.
7. Ongoing Education & Ethical Standards
[BondingwithK9s] is committed to staying current with the latest research in dog behavior and training science.
Our trainer(s) regularly attend CPD courses, seminars, workshops, and industry conferences to maintain professional standards.
We are proud to align with ethical organisations such as the IMDT, APDT, PPG, and uphold their codes of conduct.
Training methods and advice provided are always grounded in evidence-based, welfare-first approaches.
We welcome questions and encourage clients to be informed, active participants in their dog’s learning journey.
Any advice conflicting with modern welfare science (e.g., dominance theory, outdated punishment-based techniques) will not be supported or endorsed.
Photographs and Social Media
At BondingwithK9s, we love celebrating your dog’s training journey and showcasing progress through social media. This policy outlines how photos and videos may be used, your rights as a client, and how we handle consent and privacy.
1. Purpose of Photo & Video Use
We occasionally take photographs and short video clips during training sessions to document progress and celebrate milestones.
Media may be used for marketing, educational, and promotional purposes, including on social media, websites, and printed materials.
Examples include before-and-after behaviour clips, success stories, training demonstrations, and testimonials.
Positive examples help educate other owners and promote force-free training methods.
Content may also be used in online courses, blogs, reels, or case studies with identifying details removed unless otherwise agreed.
All media is used respectfully and to highlight positive moments, training wins, or learning in progress.
2. Consent & Opting Out
No photos or videos of you or your dog will be used publicly without your consent.
Consent will be obtained during registration or at the beginning of training via a signed agreement or digital checkbox.
You can opt out of photo or video use at any time—just inform us in writing (email or message) andwe’ll respect your request.
Opting out will not affect your access to training services in any way.
If a photo or post has already been shared and you change your mind, we will remove it upon request where reasonably possible.
We will never pressure clients into appearing on camera or allowing media use.
3. Privacy & Identifying Information
We do not share full names, home addresses, or personal details with any public posts or marketing content.
When sharing images or videos, dogs are usually identified by first name only (e.g., “Meet Max!”).
Children and family members will never be shown or mentioned unless written consent is explicitly given.
Location information (e.g., your home address or walking route) will not be disclosed.
Any sensitive case details (e.g., aggression, bite history) will never be shared without anonymisation and permission.
All media is stored securely and used solely by [BondingwithK9s] for the purposes agreed upon.
4. Client Contributions
If you share your own photos or videos from training sessions, we’d love it if you tag us! (e.g., @bondingwithk9s)
With your permission, we may repost or share content you’ve published that features our services.
Testimonials, reviews, or messages you send may be quoted publicly with consent.
We’re always grateful for positive shoutouts and feedback—it helps other dog owners find trustworthy training support.
If you’d like us to credit your account or business in a post, just let us know.
Sharing your success helps others feel inspired and motivated in their own training journey.
5. Professional Use & Copyright
All photos and videos taken by [BondingwithK9s] remain our intellectual property unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Clients are welcome to download and share media that features their dog, as long as it is not edited in a way that misrepresents our services.
You may not sell or distribute training photos/videos for commercial purposes without written permission.
We retain the right to use all content captured for marketing and educational purposes, unless consent has been withdrawn.
Trainers may use media in professional portfolios, online courses, or educational presentations.
If you require a watermark-free version of any media, please contact us for permission.
6. Right to Refuse or Withdraw Media Use
We reserve the right not to publish any image or footage that may compromise safety, dog welfare, or professional standards.
If your dog is displaying distress or concerning behaviour, we will avoid capturing or posting that content without context and consent.
We do not accept requests for specific posts, angles, or social campaigns unless part of a paid collaboration.
You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us directly; we’ll confirm removal of content where reasonably possible.
Trainers also reserve the right to take no media during sessions if the dog’s focus, stress level, or behaviour makes it inappropriate.
All decisions regarding use of media are made with care, professionalism, and respect for you and your dog.
7. Group Classes & Public Events
During group classes, workshops, or public training events, photos or videos may be taken of the overall group environment.
While individuals may appear in background footage, we aim to focus on dogs and avoid capturing clients' faces unless consent is given.
If an event includes a professional photographer or videographer, this will be clearly communicated beforehand.
You may opt out of group class media by informing the trainer prior to the session.
We encourage a relaxed, positive environment and never single out participants for unwanted attention.
Media captured at public events may be used for promotional purposes unless a formal opt-out is submitted.
8. Editing & Representation
Photos and videos may be lightly edited for clarity, colour, or formatting, but will never be altered to misrepresent training outcomes.
We do not use filters or editing tools to falsely enhance behaviour, exaggerate success, or remove important context.
Testimonials and quotes will be used accurately and will not be edited to change their meaning.
We aim to represent both progress and realistic expectations—training is a journey, not perfection.
If your dog is featured in a success post or educational content, we’ll ensure it reflects their genuine experience.
You may request to review or approve photos/videos before they are posted if your dog is the central focus.
Children in Training Sessions
We believe involving the whole family in dog training can be a great way to build consistency and confidence—especially for children. However, safety and focus are our priority. This policy outlines how children may participate in training sessions, and the responsibilities of their parents or guardians.
1. General Guidelines
Children are welcome to attend training sessions provided they are calm, respectful, and supervised at all times.
A parent or legal guardian must be present throughout the session if a child is in attendance.
Children under the age of 16 may not attend training sessions alone or act as the dog’s sole handler.
The trainer reserves the right to end the session early if a child’s behaviour becomes disruptive or unsafe.
Parents are expected to ensure their child follows all trainer instructions when present.
For safety and insurance reasons, participation of children must be agreed in advance during the booking process.
2. Supervision & Behaviour Expectations
Children must remain under close supervision by their parent or guardian throughout the session.
They must not approach or interact with unfamiliar dogs unless given clear permission by the trainer.
Running, shouting, climbing, or rough play is not allowed during training to maintain a calm environment.
Disruptive behaviour may result in the session being paused or cancelled without refund.
Parents are responsible for managing their child’s behaviour and ensuring safety for all participants.
Repeated issues may result in a restriction on bringing children to future sessions.
3. Involvement in Training
Children may be invited to take part in appropriate exercises under the trainer’s guidance and supervision.
The trainer will assess each situation to ensure it is safe and suitable for child involvement.
Exercises involving strong dogs, reactivity, or behaviour modification may not be appropriate for young handlers.
For safety reasons, some exercises (e.g., lead walking, recall) may be demonstrated by an adult first.
Involvement helps children build confidence and responsibility—but must always be handled safely.
If a child wishes to be more actively involved in training, this can be arranged as part of a tailored family session.
4. Safety Around Dogs
Children must be taught how to safely approach, interact with, and handle dogs—this is part of our education focus.
No child should hug, grab, or handle a dog in a way that may startle or upset it.
If the trainer feels a child is at risk of being knocked over, scratched, or frightened, they will adjust or end the activity immediately.
Some dogs may be nervous around children—if this applies to your dog or another dog present, we will manage accordingly.
Children should not walk dogs using long lines or equipment they cannot control.
In group sessions, children must not move between dogs or handlers unless asked by the trainer.
5. Group Classes & Public Events
If children are attending a group class, they must remain seated or in a designated area unless directly involved in the training.
Children should not interact with dogs from other households during classes or events.
Events involving high-energy or reactive dogs may not be suitable for children under 10 years of age.
The trainer may suggest certain classes or activities as more child-friendly and suitable for younger handlers.
If a child is attending a class, they must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
The trainer has the final say on whether a child can safely participate in a specific activity or event.
6. Liability & Consent
Parents or guardians are fully responsible for their child’s safety and behaviour throughout all sessions.
BondingwithK9s accepts no liability for injury caused to or by children during training unless due to proven trainer negligence.
Clients must inform the trainer at the time of booking if they intend to bring children to the session.
By attending with a child, you acknowledge and accept the risks involved and agree to follow all safety instructions.
Consent forms may be required for children participating in certain activities or handling exercises.
We reserve the right to update this policy and will notify clients of any significant changes.
7. Educational Value & Inclusion
We actively encourage family involvement in training to help ensure consistency across the household.
Sessions may include simple, age-appropriate instructions or games that help children understand basic dog body language and training principles.
Children who learn how to interact safely and positively with their dog often develop more responsible habits and empathy.
We aim to create a welcoming environment where children feel included without disrupting the focus or safety of the session.
Parents will be given advice on how children can continue to support training at home through fun and safe exercises.
Dog training is a great opportunity for children to learn about positive reinforcement, patience, and clear communication.
8. Trainer’s Right to Modify or Refuse Participation
The trainer reserves the right to adjust or restrict a child’s involvement in training if safety, welfare, or focus is compromised.
Participation may be refused if the child is too young, overwhelmed, or unable to follow basic instructions.
If a dog is easily stressed or reactive around children, the trainer may ask that children not attend for the dog’s wellbeing.
If a child’s behaviour repeatedly disrupts sessions or puts others at risk, training may be paused or terminated without refund.
For certain dogs or behaviour cases (e.g., aggression, fear), we may advise adult-only sessions for safety reasons.
These decisions are made professionally and in the best interests of both the dog and the family’s long-term success.
Training Results Disclaimer
At [Your Business Name], we are committed to delivering effective, ethical training tailored to each dog. However, as each dog and household is unique, results can vary. This policy explains the factors that influenceprogress and outlines the limits of guarantees in behaviour and obedience training.
1. No Guaranteed Results
While we provide high-quality training, we do not guarantee specific results due to the individual nature of each dog.
Behavioural change is complex and influenced by genetics, environment, health, consistency, and history.
Every dog learns at a different pace—some may progress quickly, while others may take more time.
Success depends not only on training sessions but also on the owner’s consistency and follow-through at home.
Even with proper training, setbacks or relapses in behaviour can occur and are a normal part of the process.
We cannot guarantee permanent elimination of behaviours such as reactivity, anxiety, aggression, or barking.
2. Owner Responsibility
Owners are responsible for implementing the training techniques, advice, and routines provided during and between sessions.
Lack of consistency, unclear boundaries, or mixed signals at home may hinder progress.
The dog’s environment must support the training—this includes limiting access to triggers when appropriate.
Owners must commit to daily practice of exercises to reinforce desired behaviours.
All household members must apply the same training methods to avoid confusing the dog.
We provide the tools—but your dog’s long-term success depends on how you use them.
3. Behaviour Management vs. Cure
Training aims to manage and modify behaviors, not always to “cure” or fully eliminate them.
In many behaviour cases (e.g., aggression, fear, reactivity), we focus on building control, confidence, and alternative behaviours.
These behaviours may reappear under stress or in unpredictable environments despite training.
Management tools (e.g., muzzles, leads, environmental control) may continue to be necessary for safety.
Training is a long-term investment—it often requires adjustments, patience, and reinforcement over time.
We will always be honest about what is realistically achievable for your dog and situation.
4. Factors Affecting Training Progress
Progress may be influenced by the dog’s age, breed, temperament, medical conditions, or past trauma.
Hormonal changes, pain, illness, or undiagnosed health issues can affect behaviour and learning.
A lack of mental stimulation, inconsistent routine, or excessive freedom can undermine results.
Other pets, children, or high-stress households may create additional behavioural challenges.
Missed or inconsistent training sessions will slow progress significantly.
We may recommend vet checks, behaviourists, or other specialists if external factors are impacting results.
5. Session Follow-Up & Support
You will receive training plans, notes, or exercises to practise between sessions when applicable.
Ongoing support is available for a set period as outlined in your package or agreement.
We encourage owners to contact us with questions during the support window, not wait until problems escalate.
If progress is slower than expected, additional sessions may be needed to maintain momentum.
We may revise your plan or adjust training methods based on the dog’s evolving needs.
Support expires after a defined period—future training beyond that will require rebooking.
6. Legal & Ethical Protection
By enrolling in training, you acknowledge that results are not guaranteed and agree to follow our guidance responsibly.
We reserve the right to decline or discontinue services if a client misrepresents progress, fails to follow plans, or endangers the dog’s wellbeing.
[Your Business Name] is not liable for regression, injury, or behavioural incidents that occur due to inconsistent or incorrect application of training advice.
Clients are responsible for supervising their dog at all times and maintaining safety during and after training.
This disclaimer is intended to promote transparency, realistic expectations, and shared responsibility.
Signing our training agreement confirms your understanding and acceptance of this policy.
7. Regression & Setbacks
Behavioural regression is normal and expected, especially during transitions, stressful periods, or changes in routine.
Dogs may temporarily revert to unwanted behaviours even after successful training—this does not indicate failure.
Setbacks are common during adolescence, after holidays, major life changes, or gaps in training.
We will support you in identifying causes of regression and adapting your training plan accordingly.
Booster sessions or follow-up visits may be recommended to reinforce previous learning and get back on track.
Clients should not expect permanent change after a single session or short programme—ongoing reinforcement is key.
8. Referral to Other Professionals
In some cases, we may refer you to a Clinical Animal Behaviourist or veterinary behaviourist for more complex behavioural issues.
Referrals may be made if your dog exhibits severe anxiety, aggression, phobias, or signs of underlying health concerns.
We only work within the boundaries of our qualifications and insurance—this protects both you and your dog.
Working alongside your vet may be necessary if behaviour could be linked to pain, hormonal imbalance, or neurological issues.
We will always explain why a referral is being made and offer guidance on next steps.
Continuing with training while ignoring professional advice or referrals may limit your dog’s progress or worsen issues.
